Birch Hill Primary School joins Maiden Erlegh Trust

We are delighted to announce that Birch Hill Primary School has today joined Maiden Erlegh Trust.  We warmly welcome the Birch Hill community into our family of schools and look forward to working with their staff, parents and pupils over the coming weeks, months and years.  Please see below for the full press statement.

Maiden Erlegh Trust is delighted to announce that Birch Hill Primary School has today, 1 December 2023, joined the Trust. The school which will be known as Birch Hill Primary School and Nursery, will continue to be led by Michael Dillon as Headteacher. We warmly welcome the Birch Hill community into our family of schools and look forward to working with all the staff at the school and, of course, the parents and pupils.

Jonathon Peck, Chief Executive Officer of Maiden Erlegh Trust, said: “I am thrilled to finally welcome Birch Hill Primary School and Nursery into the Trust and in so doing mark the formal establishment of our Primary Hub. I have been so impressed by the Birch Hill community through our early engagement and am looking forward to working together with Michael and his team to ensure the Birch Hill community flourishes moving forwards. We have already developed some exciting plans for the school which will enhance the quality and breadth of our offer and the experience of our pupils and staff. I look forward with optimism to what the Birch Hill community can add to our growing organisation.”

The Headteacher of Birch Hill Primary and Nursery, Michael Dillon added: “This is an exciting time for Birch Hill Primary School and Nursery as we move into a new era for our school and community. We are all looking forward to collaborating with Maiden Erlegh Trust to ensure we can provide the best education for all our children, and families.”

Nick Jones, Chair of Maiden Erlegh Trust Board, said: “I very warmly welcome the Birch Hill community to our Trust. We are delighted to have achieved this happy outcome together at the end of a genuinely collaborative and inspiring process and, alongside Michael and his team, we are looking forward to the future with confidence and enthusiasm.”

Maiden Erlegh Trust is an education community based in Reading which was established in October 2014. The Trust currently serves nearly 4000 students and runs three mainstream secondary schools, three Special/Alternative Provision schools and now two primary schools. At the heart of the Trust’s values are excellence and ambition for all, inclusive practice and breadth of provision so that every child can flourish.
