Nick Jones – Chair of the Trust (from October 2014)

Nick Jones had a successful career in catering management before co-founding ‘Restaurants at Work’, a major UK contract catering company. He has extensive experience of setting up new businesses and is currently Chair of Maiden Erlegh Trust. Nick is a founding member and Director of the Maiden Erlegh Trust and has been a governor for 18 years.

Ian May – Vice-Chair of the Trust (from October 2014) and Chair of Maiden Erlegh School in Reading Local Advisory Board

Ian is a qualified engineer and heads the Building maintenance team at the University of Reading. He has extensive knowledge of governance at both primary and secondary – he served on Radstock Primary school governing bodies as Vice Chairman. Ian is a founding member and Director of the Maiden Erlegh Trust and the Chairman of the new Local Advisory Board of the Maiden Erlegh School in Reading. Ian is also Deputy District Commissioner for the Scout Association. Ian was awarded the BEM in June 2016 for services to higher education.

Mary Davies – Executive Headteacher (from January 2017)

Mary is the Executive Headteacher of Maiden Erlegh Trust, and is Headteacher of both Maiden Erlegh School in Earley and Maiden Erlegh School in Reading. She was formerly Deputy Headteacher at Maiden Erlegh School, Earley. She currently works as an Ofsted Additional Inspector and has been designated National Leader of Education (from July 2017). During her eleven years at Maiden Erlegh, she has driven both the process to convert to academy status in 2011, and in setting up of the free school in 2015. She has also led in all key areas of school work including Standards, Curriculum, Safeguarding and acting as SENCO for nearly two years. Prior to joining Maiden Erlegh School, after nearly four years as Head of Modern Languages in Leicestershire, she was Assistant Headteacher at Jack Hunt School in Peterborough where her portfolio included the leadership of the school’s specialisms, including leading the school’s application for High Performing Specialist School Status. She headed up the school’s Leading Edge work and undertook primary outreach work as part of Language College status. Mary’s background before education was in business and she has worked at the Bank of England and studied and worked in Europe including, helping with a start-up business in France. Mary attended comprehensive schools in Leicestershire and Rutland and completed her degree at Cambridge University and her tri-national Masters in International Business Management at Leicester De Montfort University (GB), École de Commerce Chambéry (France) and Fachhochschule Saarbrücken (Germany).

Jonathon Peck – Director of Finance and Operations (from March 2017)

Jonathon joined the Trust in March 2017 and is responsible for all financial and operational functions of the Trust. He is a Chartered Management Accountant with nearly 15 years’ experience in various finance leadership roles within industry, most recently as a Finance Director at Capita PLC. Jonathon attended Dr Challoner’s Grammar School in Amersham, Buckinghamshire and gained a BSc (Hons) in Business Economics and Finance at Loughborough University. He is a Foundation Governor at All Saints CE (Aided) Primary School in Wokingham and also an FA Licensed Coach.

Lindsey Bowden (from December 2015)

Lindsey is an experienced Governor, having spent six years at a local primary school as Vice Chair before joining Maiden Erlegh. Her background is in accounts working for Combined Lease Finance PLC in the city then working locally when her children were young, including Gowrings of Wokingham, the RMBI at Lord Harris Court and Whiteknights Mortgage and Financial Services. Recently Lindsey retrained to become an Operating Department Practitioner studying at Bucks New University and the Royal Berkshire Hospital. She also works for Reading Football Club as a host family offering a safe 'home from home' for their young players on both a short and long term basis. Lindsey attended Maiden Erlegh School as have both her children.

Bob Kenwrick (from October 2014) - Chair of Maiden Erlegh School Local Advisory Board

Bob spent 38 years in the Police Force and prior to retiring was Chief Inspector with British Transport Police. On retiring, he returned to British Transport Police for 7 years as their well-being manager with responsibility for Health and Safety and Occupational Health. Bob has been a governor for 12 years; he was Chair of Governors at a local primary school and is currently Chair of Governors at a local secondary school. He has been a governor at Maiden Erlegh School for four years and is a Director of the Maiden Erlegh Trust.

Jan Rothwell (from October 2014)

Jan is Chief Executive of the West Berkshire Citizens Advice Bureau and has extensive senior management experience. Jan has served as a governor at Maiden Erlegh School for 10 years and is a Director of the Maiden Erlegh Trust. Jan is the Safeguarding lead for the Trust.

Alastair Starnes (from October 2014)

Alastair is an Associate with one of the largest UK Property and Construction consultancies – Ridge and Partners LLP. He has two children who attend Maiden Erlegh School and has been a governor since 2013. Alastair has used his expertise to support the Trust in the building of Maiden Erlegh School in Reading.

John  Hobson (from December 2017)

John studied at Durham University, gaining a degree in Geography. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development. He has worked for 30 years in Human Resources, latterly in the IT support services sector, as an HR Director, where he was responsible for businesses in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. He also spends time serving the community as a Parish Councillor and also as a member of the Village Society in Charvil
