Mary Davies (CEO) announces retirement from January 2023

This week, Trustees will start the recruitment process and will be advertising publicly for a new Chief Executive Officer.   Please see below a statement from Mary Davies and Nick Jones (Chair of Trustees).

Statement from Mary Davies (Chief Executive Officer):

‘This week, Trustees will advertise publicly for a new Chief Executive Officer. This is because after much thought I have taken the decision to retire. It has been a difficult decision to make, and one that I have not taken lightly, but out of respect, I wanted to inform the Maiden Erlegh community before the recruitment process commences.

The prospect of change can always be a little disconcerting, but the Trust is in a very strong position; the schools are performing and improving well and they have strong leaders and talented staff who are dedicated to the children it serves. Our values remain strong and underpin all of our work, notably putting children first, with uncompromising inclusivity and ambition, and respecting the importance of nurturing the talented professionals who work for them. I am, therefore, extremely confident that the Trustees will have a choice of excellent candidates to work with the wonderful professionals we have at Maiden Erlegh Trust so that our schools continue to go from strength to strength.

I will continue to give my all to this role until I formally step down, which is likely to be January 2023.’

Statement from Nick Jones (Chair of Trustees):

'On behalf of our Trustees, Members and Local Advisory Board Members right across the Trust I want to take this first opportunity to thank Mary for the vital and enduring leadership she has given to the Trust over many years in so many different ways; she has, quite simply, been at the heart of all that we seek to do for our children and young people. There will be many more opportunities over the coming year to record our immense gratitude for her huge achievements, not only for the Trust but also in the wider world of education and, for now, I can reassure you that we have commenced the recruitment process in good time to find our new Chief Executive Officer.'
