Congratulations to Amy Cotton, Values in Action Winner

We’re delighted to announce that Amy Cotton, Head of Year 11, Associate SLT and English Teacher at Maiden Erlegh School in Reading, has been recognised by Maiden Erlegh Trust as a Values in Action winner for Aim High.

Amy’s nomination centres on her leadership of the school’s library project — a piece of work that began as a personal idea and has grown into a valued part of the wider school community. The project reflects her commitment to creating opportunities for students and encouraging a culture of reading and shared ownership.

🔹 Amy shared:

“I am incredibly flattered to be celebrated for my Library project; the goal was a personal passion but has now become a growing project for our entire community. Professionally, it's given me the reassurance to always explore new possibilities and trust that it's always worthwhile exploring ideas - you never know where it may lead to!”

Her motivation is rooted in the impact on students and the collective effort behind the work:

“I absolutely love seeing the impact our passion has on our students. They recognise and appreciate that all that we do, is for them and that makes each day incredibly rewarding.”

Amy’s approach reflects a belief in aspiration, resilience and the role of education beyond the classroom:

“I always encourage my students to aim high and reach for the best, and to be their best. The hardest thing for many of them is to have resilience. If they can show this, each and every day, and still have the desire to do better the next, that is success.”

👏 Thank you, Amy, for your commitment to students and for developing a project that continues to grow across the school.
