Interested in Governance?

Join a School Advisory Board

School Advisory Boards (SABs) support school leaders. They look at how the school is doing, review key information and ask constructive questions that support improvement.

We have a variety of SAB member openings available across our schools. Please read our SAB information and register your interest in joining a School Advisory Board.

Experience of school governance can be helpful but is not essential. We welcome interest from people with a range of backgrounds who are willing to read information carefully and ask thoughtful questions. There are usually 4 meetings of each SAB per year, plus networking and training opportunities.

If you are interested in governance and would like to discuss the opportunities we have, please contact Maia Hill, Lead Governance Professional by email: governance@maidenerleghtrust.org

Get involved in the Trust Board - what is the role of a Trustee?

The Trustees of the Academy Trust are both charity trustees and company directors and focus on the three core functions of governance:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
  • Overseeing and ensuring effective financial performance.

Trustees must apply the highest standards of governance and take full ownership of their duties. They must comply with the trust’s charitable objects, with company and charity law, and with the funding agreement.

Role descriptions and person specifications for these roles can be found below.
