Student Stories – David Bowie Tribute Artwork
Our next Student Story is about Hamilton School, where students took part in a community art project with Moonage, a David Bowie tribute band, to mark the 10th anniversary of David Bowie’s death on 10 January 2026 — showing creativity, teamwork and pride in their work.
The project began in September, when Hamilton School was invited to contribute a piece of artwork to be unveiled at South Street Arts Centre on the evening Moonage were performing. Led by art teacher Lucy Harris, students embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and commitment.
Over three days in December, the group created a striking mixed-media canvas, combining collage and paint to produce a bold, thoughtful piece inspired by Bowie’s legacy. The finished artwork impressed the band when it was collected at the end of term and took pride of place at the Arts Centre, where it received many positive comments from the audience.
The artwork will soon return to Hamilton School, where it will be proudly displayed as a reminder of what students can achieve through collaboration and creative expression.
Hamilton students, you’ve put so much into this project, and it shows. A fantastic achievement.
